Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if Kevin Gorski Carpentry, Inc. is a reliable contracting firm?
It is to YOUR advantage to investigate any company before you hire them to do work in your home!  We suggest that you contact the Better Business Bureau, along with your town's Chamber of Commerce before anyone is allowed to work for you.  We have worked in several north- and northwest-Chicago suburbs.  We are happy to provide a referral list upon request.

How busy are you?  Can I get my carpentry work done ASAP?
Typically, we have a "back-log" of work for the next few months.  This does not mean that we're unable to fit your project into our schedule.  Please contact us so we can discuss your project.

My project is very small.  Do you only accept large remodeling projects?
This is not an easy question to answer.  Some projects appear to be small, but "evolve" into larger projects once the homeowner understands everything that's involved.  For example, if you want a new front door hung -- we might discover damage to surrounding materials that need to be replaced.  Of course, the homeowner always has the final "say-so" before additional work is done.

The short answer to this question is "no, we don't only accept large projects".

Why do I need a General Contractor?  I can handle all the scheduling myself!  Plus - I have "friends" that will help with things like the electrical work.
We have experience fixing the problems that occurred during "I've got a buddy..." projects.  They usually cost the homeowner much more than if a General Contractor had originally been hired to oversee the job.

We STRONGLY recommend that you work with a General Contractor if your project involves work in several areas (i.e. carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc).  Your General Contractor can take care of many things like:  obtaining the necessary permits to work in your town, verifying that sub-contractors are insured and licensed, scheduling delivery of materials/appliances/etc., AND scheduling all the sub-contractors so your work is completed on time.
